Brussels Travel Guide

Planning a trip to Brussels, add the below stops to your list:

Breakfast Spot to Check Out:

Woodpecker 47 – Perfect spot that serves breakfast/brunch all day. Nice outdoor area on a wide street just off the main squares.

Breakfast Spot to Check Out:

Kafei Dansaert is famous for their extra fluffy pancakes. This is perfect for those that want to try something a little different.

  • Other Places for Coffee:
    • Izy Coffee
    • Coco Donuts – the storefront has unfortunately closed but they are still selling their donuts on Thursdays at Creme or Bisou

Where to Snack All Day:

Friterie Artisanale Georgette – Just around the corner from Jeanneke Pis is this belgian fries stand. Lots of sauces to choose from too!

  • Other Places to Snack All Day:
    • La Friterie – Fries
    • Tonton Garby – sandwiches usually with a long line
    • Friture Pitta De La Chapelle

One of the things Belgium is known for is their chocolate. You can of course do a tour, but I recommend just doing a tour yourself. Hope into a few chocolate shops and pick a few chocolates and you’ll have much more fun and for a cheaper price. See the below couple places I recommend checking out.

Self Guided Chocolate Tour:

Elisabeth -several locations throughout the City, make this a must stop on the tour

Self Guided Chocolate Tour:

Neuhaus – like Elisabeth, check this out, several locations as well

Where to Eat Dinner

Wolf is a food market with many different delicious options for anyone in your group.

  • Other Places to Eat Dinner
    • Gare Maritime – If you want to experience another food hall
    • Hellas – Greek food good for quick bite at lunch or dinner
    • L’Express – Lebanese quick service

Where to Get Drinks:

Le Rot des Belges is a nice little bar with delicious drinks. On a nice day they have a huge patio that spills out onto the streets to sip and enjoy the sunshine. There are several bars at this intersection that are worth a visit.

Where to Get Drinks:

Delirium Cafe is a quintessential place that you need to visit when coming to Brussels. Known for their thousands of beers, and maze of a location with several bars throughout. Its also across from Jeanneke Pis so not hard to miss.

  • Other Places to Grab a Drink:
    • It may be pretty touristy, but grab a drink from the many places surrounding the Grand-Place and enjoy the beauty of the square.

Where to Grab Dessert:

Obe – Had are favorite Belgian waffle of the trip making the waffle fresh in front of us.

Things to Do in Brussels

Atomium – This massive structure was built for the 1958 Worlds Fair to look like like an atom. Today you can go inside and explore the many spheres with light shows, history and panoramic views.

Mini Europe – Next to the Atomium (and can be combo ticketed) is Mini Europe. In this park, there are many miniature versions of famous landmarks across all the European countries. A quick interesting visit while visiting the Atomium.

BattleKart– Live out your real life Mario Kart dreams here against your friend in real go-karts. Located in the Tours&Taxis part of the city, there are several other museums and venues in this section to check out as well.

Chocolate Making Class – Instead of doing a chocolate tour, I recommend doing a chocolate making class. A lot of fun and what’s a better souvenir to bring home then chocolate that you made yourself.

  • Find all the Pis Statues:
    • For some reason pissing statues became a popular tourist destination in the city. The most famous is Manneken Pis, but you can also find Jeanneke Pis and Zinneke Pis.
  • Grand Place- The main attraction in Brussels is this main square in the heart of the city with beautiful ornate buildings lining all sides of the square.
  • Museums – There are plenty of museums around the city you can visit from Banksy to Chocolate to Beer.
  • Prison Island – Fun activity kind of like an escape room but with many rooms with puzzles that you can do in any order as well as indoor mini golf.
  • Getting from the Airport to the City:
    • The best and fastest way I find to get right to the city center is to take the train. They have a train from the airport to North, Central and South stations, with central dropping you off near most attractions.
